| History |
Walt Disney World's first 'Moderate' resort, Caribbean Beach brought value to Vacation Kingdom guests. And while it would fit the basic layout of your typical 'Days Inn' it would never be mistaken for one. Designers made sure this resort, like the others, would have that Disney Feel. Clusters of pastel colored buildings represent the islands of the Caribbean. Palm trees and lush tropical vegetation block out the 'real world' and leave you in paradise. Parrot Cay, found in the center of Barefoot Bay was home to several colorful Parrots. But within it's first ten years, the Parrots were moved to new homes, such as Animal Kingdom. |
| In Twenty years after opening, a major renovation began on Disney's oldest Moderate resort. The main pool at Old Port Royale was completely removed and a new complex built. Zero-entry, a longer slide and a Pirate Ship play zone are in it's place. Also, Trinidad South will be re-themed to Pirates of the Caribbean with room improvements. |
| Rooms renovated in 2008/09 to Finding Nemo or Pirates of the Caribbean Theme. |
| Design |
The Orlando firm of Fugelberg Koch & Associates of San Diego was responsible for the design of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Dixie Landings Resort, Disney's Port Orleans Resort and Disney's Old Key West Resort. Each of these reflects distinct geographical styles of architecture taken from the old South and the islands of the Caribbean. |
| Christmastime |
Tropical ornaments decorate Christmas Trees, wreaths and hollies bringing the holidays to the islands. |
