Originally, I'm from outside Chicago. I moved to Florida in 1991 when I started college. My family had been to Walt Disney World several times while I was a kid. In fact, staying a week at the Polynesian when there was nothing but 4 resorts and the Magic Kingdom. These days I get long weekends - but WAY more often.
I always enjoy exploring the places I haven't been yet. What's around the next corner, what's new? When you go as often as I do, you start to see the place differently. I notice the small changes, and the big ones, of course. I enjoy exploring the resorts and other areas outside the Theme Parks. There are very few places I haven't been. I love Disney World - and I like to help people make their trip even better. I've often seen lost people and helped them out, or turned them in the right direction. People ask if I'm a Cast Member (even by other cast members) - I always tell them "No, but I should be. Or at least Disney should be paying me".
Kim Possible and Fairytale Dreams & Destinations
It was several years ago that our relationship began. We were regular posters on an Disney discussion board playing Walt Disney World trivia. Somehow, a friendship developed across the electrons - shared interest in WDW and a little blue alien drew us together. It was January 2004 that we actually met face to face at our favorite Florida destination. She was getting her Disney travel agency off the ground and I promised to send her my business.
That spring I needed to make plans for two nights at Ft Wilderness. Now, as a self-named WDW expert, I always looked up the best prices on the internet and booked my own room. It was no big deal - so I wouldn't need a travel agent to do it for me. But this was my friend - so I'll give her the business.
I e-mailed her my who/what/when and all the pertinent info. Within two hours I had my reservation. Done. I didn't have to use my break at work to call or wait until I got home. It was done. Two days before our trip I get an e-mail saying the loop I asked for was being requested. Sure enough, when I checked in late we had a cabin in the loop I wanted.
When my Mom and I decided to have a girls weekend at WDW, I e-mailed my request again. I asked for Port Orleans: French Quarter, shortly later I got an e-mail. The only Moderate resort not fully booked was Port Orleans Riverside and she was holding a room for me, did I want it? Not only do I have a friend - but a fantastic Disney travel agent too!
I offered my WDW knowledge to Fairytale Dreams & Destinations in the form of trip reports and reviews. I had always thought about doing my own WDW site - but never got around to it. But now I can write reviews and create faq's as I visit and stay at Disney World and give them to someone else to publish. It's a great relationship - and one that I hope continues for a very long time.
You'll also find me over on the To Infinity...and Beyond discussion board.
In fact, I have my own board - What's the Sitch? where I answer all your Walt Disney World related questions.
Days Spent at WDW
Pre-1990: 7 I talked with Mom & she can recall 7 trips to WDW. We're not sure how many 'days' were spent there, so I'll just stick with 7. I started to keep track after we moved to Florida in 1991. I keep a journal of all my trips to the World - from half a day to multi-day vacations. I keep records of who I went with, where we stayed, what we did and what was new. 1990: 3 1991: 6 (moved to Florida - and my obsession with WDW grew) 1992: 4 1993: 13 1994: 11 1995: 15 1996: 20 1997: 16 1998: 11 1999: 20 2000: 19 2001: 27 2002: 31 - My record year 2003: 17 2004: 24 2005: 26 2006: 22 2007: 24 2008: 37 2009: 15
